Once Upon Magnolia is my story about living in an old house in Los Angeles. This is my corner of the internet where I talk about being a working mom and wife while soaking in the best life has to offer in Southern California. I write about everything from my personal thoughts and feelings to fashion, home decor, and much more. I can be a bit snarky and a bit sentimental–all while thriving in a wonderfully imperfect world.
I have been married to my amazing husband for 14 years. We were set up by a friend who told me that he thought I was cute. The friend then called my future husband and told him I thought he was cute. In actuality, neither of us was interested in the other. We went on one date and the rest is history.
My husband is a television producer specializing in challenge-based reality television show and game shows. His career means long hours in a business that everyone thinks is glamorous but isn’t. This means there are times when I’m a production widow. This also means we LOVE television in our house and we watch a lot of it.
I have three kiddos–all boys. They keep me crazy busy and my house is incredibly loud… all the time. My kids are the smartest, cutest boys on the planet. (Ages 4, 7 and 9) They love pirates, Mickey Mouse, Legos, Star Wars and the Disney Channel. The order of those obsessions varies daily.
I am a writer.
I am a professional writer. That means I get paid to write and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t pinch myself because of that fact. I write for newspapers, magazines, websites and most importantly a major U.S. hospital. My specialties are pediatric health and development, travel, parenting and entertainment and you will see this creep into this site from time to time.
If you are here, you may have happened upon this blog by way of my award winning blog (or book) Babes In Disneyland. This blog is very different. You typically don’t see my snark… or home life… or my obsessions with pretty things over on Babes. Here is where I’m a little more “me.”
I am a native Californian.
I love living in So Cal and my life is the true California story. I grew up on Orange County. My dad was a surfer, skateboarder and skier. I worked at Disneyland as a tour guide while in college. I’m now married to a television producer and live in the “media capital of the world.” Does it get more “California” than that?
I am PR friendly. Gotta pitch? Shoot me an email via the contact page.
