For more than a year, my friends and family had to endure us talking about our remodel and addition started. After a series of delays and missteps, it has finally started. (I will write about the delays after the project is over many months from now.) What’s important is that it has started and so far we’ve seen a lot of action.
What are we doing exactly? Where to I begin! We are adding on a total on 951 square feet, plus remodeling parts of the existing house. The addition will include a second story that will feature three bedrooms, a bathroom and a small play/TV area, as well as a place for our new stairs, a small laundry area and small addition to our master bath. We are remodeling our existing master and master bath and family room and rewiring the house.
Here is what we started with:
Here is what we’ve experienced so far:
Construction has gone on five or six days a week, every week. Things are moving fast.
Our house is pretty old–build in 1938. It has already been through two additions by previous owners. We have already found ourselves having to “fix” some surprises during the six weeks of construction so far. It’s been an adventure–an education, if you will. Stay tuned for more to come. Much, much more to come.
